Air conditioning thermostats in amenity areas or corridors are a necessary evil. While there are options for traditional, utilitarian tstats as well as sleek new sophisticated tstats, two things usually happen to them in a public space. 1- They walk away (stolen), 2- They are damaged, on purpose or by accident. The traditional way of preventing 1 and 2 is to install a lovely $11 plastic cover with a lock. A better option is a remote sensor like the white nest above which can be placed where needed in a way that won’t be damaged and unlikely to be stolen. The thermostat is then placed in a closet or other secure location. Even better, using multiple remote sensors will allow for all rooms to be the same temperature regardless of exposure to the elements. Join the resistance, no more plastic tstat covers!!!
