We’ve all seen something like this in an urban area. Beautiful building, nice wide sidewalk, great pedestrian experience…then a random dumpster totally crushing the sidewalk. Why? Because the truck that comes to pickup the dumpster can’t get inside the building where the dumpster normally lives, so maintenance has to push the dumpster out to the sidewalk on pickup days. Besides encumbering the sidewalk access, they also smell terrible!!! The solution? First, make sure the dumpster room is accessible by a truck that can either empty the dumpster onsite or take the dumpster away to empty and bring back. Second, use a self-contained dumpster/compactor, which will require less trips to the dump and significantly reduce smell and spills associated with our friendly neighborhood sidewalk dumpster.
